We were instructed by a group of family members after the death of a relative. The deceased had been knocked over by a car when crossing the road and she suffered fatal injuries. The driver was found to have been under the influence of alcohol behind the wheel.
How we helped our clients
We liaised with fourteen of the immediate family members to take detailed statements relating to their loss of society claims, and any other support claims they may have had.
A number of expert reports were obtained which were tailored to the claimants’ individual circumstances. We then followed up with the insurers for the at fault driver and provided them with the claims documents.
We believed the case could be resolved more effectively and speedily for the clients if we could work collaboratively with the insurers. We were able to persuade the insurer to meet and mediate all claims and resolved them for all family members within a much shorter period than litigation would have allowed.
These series of claims were of great importance to the family members, as whilst they were happy to claim, they were keen to resolve matters as quickly as possible and not allow things to drag on indefinitely.
