Circumstances of accident
We acted on behalf of our client in a claim for personal injury arising from a road traffic accident.
Our client was travelling as a front seat passenger when another driver attempted to perform a U-turn and collided with the front of our client’s vehicle.
Given the circumstances of the accident, liability was not disputed. We raised a court action on the basis that the insurer of the third-party vehicle failed to put forward a reasonable offer.
How we helped our client
As a result of the accident, our client suffered multiple injuries. These included soft tissue injuries to her neck and back, a “clicking” injury to her jaw and permanent tinnitus.
The injury to our client’s jaw was unlikely to resolve without surgery. We sought the cost of private surgery within our client’s claim.
Our client required assistance with day to day activities from family members due to her injuries.
We arranged physiotherapy treatment for our client’s neck and back injuries which assisted with their resolution. We obtained several expert medical reports which dealt with the numerous injuries sustained. These detailed the diagnosis, recommended treatment and anticipated prognosis for each of the injuries.
Settlement
We were able to obtain a settlement of £29,000 for all of our client’s heads of claim. This was over seven times the initial offer of £4,000 which was put forward by the third-party insurer prior to raising court proceedings.
