Over £4,500 awarded to taxi driver following rear-end collision

Our client, a taxi driver in Glasgow, was involved in a road traffic accident while stationary at a red traffic light.

Without warning, another vehicle collided with the rear of his taxi. The third-party driver immediately accepted responsibility at the scene and admitted fault.

Following the collision, our client experienced sharp back pain, with shoulder symptoms developing later the same day. The incident also significantly worsened pre-existing soft tissue injuries.

With a course of physiotherapy, our client made a full recovery within six months.

Because of the damage to his taxi, the vehicle required repairs and remained off the road for two months. Although a replacement vehicle was provided, it was not suitable for use in his taxi business. As a result, our client suffered considerable loss of earnings throughout the repair period.

We promptly notified the at-fault driver’s insurers of the claim, and liability was quickly admitted. to support the case, we arranged for our client to be examined by an orthopaedic surgeon, who provided a detailed report on his inures and expected recovery timeline.

Once all necessary evidence – including medical documentation and financial loss information was gathered, we submitted it to the insurers and invited them to make settlement proposals.

Settlement

After a brief negotiation period with the insurers and their appointed loss of earnings specialist, a settlement exceeding £4,500 was successfully secured for our client.
