Our client was a pedestrian crossing a road in Dundee, when suddenly a motorist, driving without due care and attention ran him over.
As a result, he suffered severe crush injuries to his right leg. Unfortunately, this resulted in a below the knee amputation
How we helped our client
We intimated a claim to the insurers of the motorist. Liability was accepted. We then instructed orthopaedic and psychological reports to value our client’s claim. Our client was fitted with a prosthesis and was able to mobilise independently. He was already retired, so there was no claim for loss of earnings. He was also able to deal with most of his care needs himself. We also instructed a report from a care needs expert.
Settlement
Once we had gathered all the medical evidence, we forwarded this to the third-party insurers. We then negotiated a settlement, the updated value of which is £120,000.
