At the time of the accident, Susan was working as a shop assistant in a store. The area where the store was situated had high levels of crime. There had been several robberies at the store. Susan was working at one of the check-outs in the store, when there was a robbery.
As a result of the incident, Susan suffered psychological injury.
How we helped Susan
We notified a claim to her employer to which their insurers denied liability saying they had no responsibility for the robbery. We commissioned a report from a crime prevention expert and were able to show that the measures taken by Susan’s employer to protect her at work were inadequate. We also obtained a report from a psychologist. We raised a court action and progressed with the court action until close to the final hearing, her employer’s insurers agreed to settle the claim. The updated value of the agreed compensation is approximately £15,000.
