Robert was working on a construction site, when he slipped on a ramp. The main contractor who had responsibility for site safety had failed to provide a handrail to the ramp, or a non-slip surface, or to provide for alternative stairs. As a result, Robert broke his ankle and also injured his shoulder and suffered a laceration to his head.
How we helped Robert
We notified a claim to the insurers of the main contractor. The Insurers accepted our arguments that the ramp was unsafe, and that a safer means of access should have been provided. We instructed medical reports to quantify Robert’s claim. The insurers failed to make a reasonable settlement offer and so we raised court proceedings on Robert’s behalf. Soon afterwards, we were able to negotiate an acceptable settlement.
