Compensation for child who suffered an adjustment disorder with anxiety following road traffic accident

Our client, a 10-year-old child, was a rear seat passenger in a car with his family when it was involved in a serious head on collision with another vehicle.

Our client suffered from soft tissue injuries to his neck and lower abdomen. He was kept in hospital overnight following the accident. He also developed psychological symptoms, including acute anxiety and sleep disturbance as a result of what he had been through.

We intimated our client’s claim on the third-party insurers who initially offered just £1,000 to settle the claim.

We arranged for our client to be assessed by a Consultant Psychiatrist who diagnosed him with an adjustment disorder  with anxiety as a result of the accident. The psychiatrist recommended that our client should undergo cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Our client received £7,200 compensation for his injuries. We also agreed that the insurers would arrange and fund our client’s CBT treatment.
