£2,000 compensation for a fall on a busy Glasgow street

Our client was walking along Argyle Street in Glasgow, when he tripped and fell due to a significantly raised and loose slab on the pavement.

As a result of the accident, our client suffered soft tissue injuries to his shoulder, chest, right arm, neck, and the back of his head. Our client had pre-existing issues with his shoulder, and the accident caused a transient exacerbation of these symptoms for a short period.

We intimated a claim against Glasgow City Council, alleging that the defect, being in a heavily pedestrianised area, constituted a hazard and that the risk of injury to members of the public was reasonably foreseeable.

Settlement

We obtained supportive medical evidence from a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, to confirm our client’s injuries. Following negotiations with the Defender, we managed to achieve damages for our client of £2,000. This provided appropriate compensation for our client’s injuries.
