Our client was in a supermarket with her nine-year-old son, when a staff member walked through doors into their path carrying shelving. The supermarket worker bumped into her son and dropped the shelving onto her son’s ankles.
No first aid was offered by the supermarket at the time and our client’s son suffered severe bruising and pain, particularly to his left ankle, following the accident.
We instructed a medical examination for the child and he received physiotherapy treatment to assist with his injuries at their local hospital. He was unable to play sports for some time after the accident.
We intimated the claim upon the insurers for the supermarket who admitted liability and agreed to deal with the claim.
Our client’s son’s injuries were expected to resolve within 16 months of the date of the accident and his claim was settled in the sum of £5,000.00.
