Circumstances of claim
Margaret was shopping in a local supermarket. She slipped on a spillage of clear liquid on the floor breaking her arm and suffering shock and psychological injury. There was circumstantial evidence to show that there had been an earlier attempt to mop up the spillage. This was important as it fixed the supermarket with knowledge of the spillage.
How we helped Margaret
We notified a claim to the supermarket which was then passed onto their insurers. Their insurers accepted liability. Following the accident, Margaret needed help with her immediate care, and we persuaded the insurers to fund a care package. We then instructed medical reports about her broken arm and psychological injury. We couldn’t agree on compensation and so we raised a court action on Margaret’s behalf. We then settled the claim at £35,000.
