Circumstances of accident
On the day of the accident, Muriel was travelling as a passenger in a taxi. The taxi driver attempted to negotiate a roundabout at an excessive speed and as a result the taxi crashed. Muriel suffered from leg and back injuries. She had to go to hospital immediately and did not have time to report the accident to the police. The taxi driver delayed in reporting the accident to the police.
How we helped Muriel
We notified a claim to the insurers of the taxi driver. The taxi driver told his insurers and the police that the accident was caused by another vehicle. Consequently, his insurers denied liability for the accident. We therefore raised a court action on Muriel’s behalf. We were able to show through witness and circumstantial evidence that there was no other vehicle involved in the accident. We instructed medical reports. We then negotiated a settlement with the insurers which is worth some £67,500 in today’s money.
