Passenger injured in rear-end crash awarded £3,100 settlement

Our client was travelling as a front-seat passenger when the vehicle they were in was struck from behind by another driver.

At the time of the impact, the car was stationary while waiting for a safe opportunity to enter a roundabout.

The collision was forceful and caused significant damage. The vehicle was later deemed uneconomical to repair and was written off.

Immediately after the accident, the client attended their local Emergency Department. They were examined and provided with advice and pain relief, including co-codamol and ibuprofen.

We obtained an independent medical report from a General Practitioner, who confirmed that the client suffered soft tissue injuries to the neck and back, a minor head injury, and travel anxiety related to the collision. With physiotherapy and time, all symptoms resolved within six months.

The injuries affected the client’s day-to-day life. They found it difficult to participate in hobbies such as cooking, baking and exercise. They went out less often and required support from family members for heavier household tasks. Shopping trips were limited to lighter loads due to ongoing discomfort.

A claim was submitted to the at-fault driver’s insurer on the client’s behalf. Liability was admitted shortly thereafter.

Once medical evidence was finalised, this was shared with the insurer along with a formal invitation to settle. Following a short period of negotiation, a settlement was agreed.

Settlement

The client received £3,100, covering pain, suffering, and the inconvenience caused by the accident.

The swift, positive outcome enabled the client to focus on their full recovery and return to their normal activities.
