Case Studies

How we've helped our clients.

Author :

At the time of the accident, Colin was employed as a police officer. During a shift, he was travelling in a police vehicle which was chasing another vehicle that was being driven by a suspected thief.

The police vehicle signalled the suspect vehicle to stop. The suspect vehicle did stop but, in an effort to evade arrest the suspect then reversed his vehicle into the police vehicle casusing Colin to suffer serious injuries.

Colin sustained neck and shoulder injuries. Unfortunately, he already had a pre-existing neck condition and the combination of the injuries and his underlying condition led him to being medically retired from the police service.

How we helped our client

Although the suspect vehicle had been stolen, the insurers of the vehicle were obliged to deal with Colin's claim as road traffic insurers. To begin with, they denied liability for the accident saying it was the fault of the police vehicle for failing to stop.

We therefore had to raise court proceedings on Colon's behalf and during the course of the action liability was then admitted.

We then instructed a number of medical and other reports to quantify the claim.

Settlement

A settlement was then agreed, in the region of £155,000.

Testimonial

Colin said: "I was delighted with the way Lindsays dealt with my claim especially after the insurers denied liability. They selected and instructed Counsel and medical experts on my behalf who I was happy with, and was pleased with the compensation that I received."
