Jonathan Cornwell successfully settled a claim for our client who sustained a catastrophic and life-changing spinal injury.
Our client was part of a group taking part in a grass sledging activity. Equipment for the activity had been provided by the Defenders, but they failed to provide a helmet.
Our client was sitting at the back of the sledge, with his daughter between his knees. As he was sledging down the slope he hit a depression and was thrown forward, over the top of his daughter, landing on his head. This resulted in him suffering from a serious spinal injury.
Our client was transported to hospital, where he remained for over four months following the accident. Unfortunately, our client’s injuries were life changing. Prior to the accident, our client had worked as a dentist, and due to impaired mobility, is no longer able to continue with his career. He now requires using a wheelchair, and his life expectancy has been reduced as a result of his injuries.
We managed to settle the claim and obtain appropriate compensation for our client to enable him to have the support and aftercare he requires following the accident.
